BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - The New York Mets made its first roster cuts of spring training on Tuesday and Tim Tebow was one of the players reassigned to minor league camp. Tebow was not designated to a specific affiliate, according to the Mets website.
The outfielder only collected one hit in 18 official at-bats in the grapefruit league, while striking out 11 times.
Tebow can still appear in future spring training games with the big league club this spring.
According to the Mets website, starting pitchers Corey Oswalt and Marcos Molina, two of the other players reassigned, were optioned to Binghamton. If Oswalt and Molina both start 2018 with Binghamton, it would be huge for the Rumble Ponies' pitching staff.
