BOCES opens doors to community through open house

Posted: Updated:

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- An open house took place at BOCES Tuesday at the main campus in Binghamton.

It was the annual open house for its Center for Career & Technical Excellence.

The open house focuses on many of the career and technical education programs that BOCES offers.

The event provided open classroom exhibits for prospective students and their parents to see what is offered, as well as an opportunity to speak to current students and teachers.

"I think we are one of the biggest secrets in town you know I think that we have been training kids for years and years," Thomas McNair, the director of the Center for Career & Technical Excellence, said. "Our school districts support what we do here, we feel real good about what we offer students here in this region, and really we are preparing them for college sometimes and often the workforce."

The center offers 28 different programs. BOCES works with 15 school districts in our area.
