Learning how the "Tebow Effect" impacts local businesses

Posted: Updated:

(WBNG) -- Now that Tim Tebow is coming to Rumble Town for the upcoming season, fans and businesses are excited.

"It's going to be such a financial increase there," said Joe Roche about Binghamton.

As the owner of Villa Tronco Restaurant in Columbia, South Carolina, Roche knows well what Tebow's presence does for the economy. Tim Tebow was in Columbia for half of last season playing with the New York Mets Class A affiliate, the Columbia Fireflies. The Fireflies play at a stadium just a flew blocks away from Villa Tronco.

"Tebow really brought a lot of people not just to the city, but to the state and all," explained Roche. "People come up to the state just to see him play so it has been a big plus for us."

Roche said usually summers are quiet, but last season his restaurant has seen larger crowds. So if the "Tebow Effect" remains true, bars and restaurants that are blocks away from NYSEG Stadium could see growth too, once Tebow hits the field

"I think y'all are just going to go crazy with him there," emphasized Roche. "It's his nature to win, so it's going to be a big plus for the area"
