BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - Binghamton mustered only five hits Tuesday night at NYSEG Stadium in a 5-1 loss to Akron on another bitter cold April night in the Southern Tier. It's the second straight loss for the Rumble Ponies after sweeping its opening series against Portland.

Scoreless in the sixth inning, Akron plated four runs to take the advantage and cruise to victory.

Peter Alonso had two of Binghamton's hits, including a double. Tim Tebow went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the loss.

Final score: Akron (3-3) - 5, Binghamton (3-2) - 1

Ponies manager Luis Rojas on if the cold weather is starting to drain on his team:

"It's a subject," said Rumble Ponies manager Luis Rojas. "We talk about it all the time. When we are doing our pregame and during the game when it gets a little colder than what it was at the beginning of the game. I think it's something that's affecting every team in this league. Even in the big leagues the guys are struggling through the cold weather. As professionals, I think the guys are doing a good job getting it out of the way, but it is a subject there."

The Rumble Ponies and RubberDucks finish its three-game series Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
