PORTLAND, ME (WBNG) -- The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are visiting the Portland Sea Dogs this weekend, the team's first road trip of the season.
Southern Tier weather was not kind to the Ponies during their opening six-game homestand.
On Friday, temperatures in the Binghamton area almost hit 70 degrees, just in time for the team to travel north.
"We go further north, and I keep hearing that the weather is going to get to the mid-60s, and probably 70s this weekend, and now we're leaving," said manager Luis Rojas. "We're going further north. I guess it's just making us better. We just got ready for this six-game homestand to go and play in the cold weather. So, I haven't checked out what the weather is going to be in Portland or New Hampshire, but it's similar to road trips we've taken before."
TIM TEBOW UPDATE
Through five games, Tebow is batting .167 (3-for-18) with two singles, one home run and nine strikeouts.
Tebow spoke with the Portland media and had this to say when asked about him possibly reaching the New York Mets.
"I have no idea," said Tebow. "I wouldn't put a timetable on it. I don't know if that's fair. I think for me it's just doing something I love, pursuing it with a lot of passion and desire, and we'll see what happens."
