Binghamton University students raise Alzheimer's awareness

Posted: Updated:

VESTAL (WBNG) -- Raise Your Voice is a nationwide event hosted by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

The AFA has a student chapter as part of the nonprofit organization at Binghamton University.

Its mission is to create a support system for students on campus and spread Alzheimer's awareness.

Confidential memory screenings, a career panel with local professionals and music therapy presentations were part of the event.

"We think it's really important to get the community involved, get the community on campus to see all of the different resources in this area," said Alzheimer's Foundation of America On Campus President Katherine Zwerger. "In the Syracuse area, the Ithaca area, what different resources are available for people who've been affected with Alzheimer's disease."

The same chapter will be hosting a walk at the school on April 28 to help raise funds to find a cure.
