DICKINSON (WBNG) -- The Color Run is known to some as the happiest 5K on the planet and it was held in Broome County Sunday.

Colors fly in the air with some bubbles and music as people walk together.

"We're here today with Racker Centers and support people with disabilities," said Jessica Shirley of Owego.

She hopes to make a difference in people's lives as part of the 5K.

"It was definitely fun," added Shirley. "I think the residents that come up with us have a lot of fun."

This years charity recipient is the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier. Proceeds go to the nonprofit organization to help better the lives of all community members by improving their mental health and wellness.

"It's just fantastic," said Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier Development Director Joanne Weir. "The group here is, the energy level is so high. The organizers of the color run bring in such a good vibe to the community. They love it in Binghamton."Hundreds of volunteers devoted their time to make it an unforgettable experience.

"I helped out putting out like the shirts and stuff and the packets together and we threw color and tried to make people happy," said Ashlynn McNight, of Endwell.

Event organizers from The Color Run say they hope to be back in the area again soon.
