Ponies ambush Fisher Cats in first, hold on tight for victory

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies ambushed the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Monday night at NYSEG Stadium for six runs in the first inning and held on for the victory, 8-5. Jeff McNeil started the scoring with a RBI triple. Patrick Mazeika smacked his second home run of the season, a three-run blast. Then, Matt Oberste made it back-to-back home runs for Binghamton with a solo shot. Tim Tebow capped off the six-run first with a RBI double off the wall in left center field. The Ponies batted around in the first inning. 

Led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Cavan Biggio and Bo Bichette the Fisher Cats continued to score runs, but the Ponies held off the talented New Hampshire team for the victory. 

Tebow finished the game 1-for-4 with a double, RBI and two strikeouts. 

Tyler Bashlor extended his scoreless-inning streak in Double-A to 22.1, notching his third save of the season for the Ponies.

Final score: Binghamton (7-8) - 8, New Hampshire (11-5) - 5

Binghamton and New Hampshire continues its three-game series Tuesday night at NYSEG Stadium at 6:35 p.m.
