BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - Even in tough seasons, there are bright spots. This year for the Binghamton Devils, defenseman Jacob MacDonald put his name on the map. MacDonald earned his first trip to the AHL All-Star Classic and finished the season as the Binghamton Devils' leader in points. 20 goals and 35 assists as a defenseman.
Wednesday at the New Jersey Devils end of the season press conference Devils general manager Ray Shero said MacDonald did enough to earn himself a NHL contract.
"Yeah he did," said New Jersey Devils General Manager Ray Shero. "We actually tried to sign him earlier in the year. I think he was at the point, I think he's outside entry-level, but I was happy for him. Where he came from in college to where, I think guys like Rick Kowalsky, Tom Fitzgerald deserves a lot credit for getting a guy like him. He did a great job and made the all-star team and maybe we're going to revisit this with him, but we tried early, but yeah he does deserve an NHL contract for sure."
