Binghamton Mayor recognizes Security Mutual's local contributions
BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- Binghamton Mayor Rich David joined local officials on Tuesday to celebrate Security Mutual Week, which recognizes Security Mutual Life Insurance's contributions to the community.
Security Mutual, founded in 1886, employs more than 300 people locally.
Mayor David thanked Security Mutual for its contributions over the past years, specifically the donation of 150 hanging flower baskets for the city.
Part of the celebration included raising the company's flag at city hall.
"We have a great partnership as the mayor said and that's something we treasure. We have a great mayor, a great city, and we want to hold up our end and actually try to do more than what's expected," Pete Pheffer, Security Mutual Vice President and CEO, told 12 News.
The celebrations will continue this week as more Security Mutual associates from across the country will visit Binghamton for training and meetings. Part of the training will be dedicated to extending the reach of Sock Out Cancer.
