Two people killed in Colesville crash identified

UPDATE 12:15 A.M.

COLESVILLE (WBNG) -- The Broome County Sheriff's Office identified the two people killed in a crash in Colesville Tuesday evening.

Edson Kitchen, 56, and Mary Kitchen, 54, of Bainbridge were dead when first responders arrived on the scene.

Their car, a blue Subaru, entered the intersection between Sanitaria Springs Road, Colesville Road and North Road for an unknown reason according to authorities.

Their vehicle was struck by a GMC pickup truck traveling on Colesville Road. Authorities said the driver of the pickup truck had the right of way.

The driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to Lourdes Hospital. He was treated and released.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police, West Colesville Fire Department, Sanitaria Springs Fire Department, and the Harpursville Fire Department all responded to the scene.

The crash is under investigation.


UPDATE 7:30 P.M.

COLESVILLE (WBNG) -- Authorities said that two people were killed in a two vehicle crash in Colesville Tuesday evening.

According to Broome County Sheriff David Harder a collision took place involving a truck and a blue car. This took place at the intersection of Sanitaria Springs Road, North Road, and Colesville Road.

Both occupants of the blue car, a man and a woman were killed. Authorities have not identified the two people that died.

One person in the truck was taken to the hospital for observation.

Neighbors said that after the collision, the blue car tumbled down Colesville Road.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office, State Police, the Harpursville Fire Department, and the West Colesville Fire Department were all on scene.

Authorities said they have reported to crashes at this intersection multiple times in the past.

This intersection has caused serious concern for neighbors, as reported by 12 News earlier this year.

UPDATE: 7:05 P.M. 

COLESVILLE (WBNG) -- State Police and the Broome County Sheriff's Office responded to a serious crash in the town of Colesville Tuesday evening.

Authorities were on the scene near North Road and Colesville Road.

They said that at least two vehicles were involved in a crash.

Our 12 News crew on the scene said that authorities weren't allowing vehicles besides neighbors past the scene of the crash. Others were forced to turn around.

COLESVILLE (WBNG) -- Emergency crews have been called to a crash with serious injuries in the town of Colesville, according to Broome County dispatch officials.

Authorities tell us it happened near North Road and Colesville Road.
