Tebow shines in June

Posted: Updated:

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) - Tim Tebow is an Eastern League All-Star, thanks to a stellar month of June at the plate. Tebow played 24 games in June, recording 73 at-bats. Tebow hit .301, which is more than 60 points better than April or May with the Ponies. He recorded seven extra base hits, which is the most for Tebow in a month with Binghamton. The outfielder also added eleven runs scored and eleven runs batted in. Strikeouts have been a problem for Tebow, but he struck out 22 times in June, compared to 36 times in May.

Tebow's June Stat Line:

24 games, 73 at-bats, .301 BA, .338 OBP, .425 SLG, 11 runs, 11 RBI, 6 2Bs, 1 HR, 22 SO, 3 BB

Tebow's teammates have noticed his improvements.

"I think he's been a great job," said Rumble Ponies infielder Levi Michael. "He competes every at-bat, gives us good at-bats every time, and he's been able to drive in a lot of runs for us. "So, he's helping the team win ball games and that's all you can ask out of him."

Binghamton and Portland continue its five-game series Monday night in Portland. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
