City officials celebrate different stages of revitalization projects

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- This afternoon, city officials celebrated the completion of a revitalization project, and a ceremony for the beginning of another.

City officials came together to recognize two historic housing revitalization projects. A groundbreaking ceremony of the Crandall-North Street Revitalization started off the afternoon. Renovations are underway to turn multiple home in the area into affordable housing.

"Part of the concept of this project is built on the Governor's philosophy of southern tier soaring, which is sort of this overall urban revitalization strategy to improve the entire southern tier. And that's part of the reason why we strategically do this type of work." said Leonard Skrill, assistant commissioner of New York state homes and community renewal.

Over on Clinton Street a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for E.J. apartments. The former Endicott Johnson Worker's clinic has been renovated into affordable apartments for senior citizens.
