Man in critical condition after Binghamton shooting

8:40 A.M. UPDATE: 

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) --  Members of the Binghamton Police Department responded early Thursday to reports of a shooting at an apartment building near Clinton Street. 

Police say around 12:40 a.m. responding officers found a 23-year-old Johnson City man who had been shot inside the building located at 12 Wilson Street.

According to police, the man suffered a life-threatening injury and was taken to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition later Thursday morning.

Police say an investigation found that before the shooting there was a dispute between two men and the unidentified suspect fired a handgun at the victim and ran off.

Investigators say this was not a random act and that no arrests have been made.

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- A heavy police presence was seen in Binghamton early Thursday morning around 1 a.m.

A Binghamton Superior Ambulance was seen rushing from the scene on Clinton Street escorted by a police car.

Our 12 News crew at the scene saw police officers searching the perimeter of a home on Wilson Street off of Clinton Street with a flashlight. 

Binghamton police say there is a perimeter and K-9's are searching.
