Lightning Likely Sparks House Fire

Lightning Likely Sparks House Fire

By WBNG News

Lighting is believed to be the cause of a house fire in Vestal Friday night.

The fire started on the second floor of this house, at 822 Bunn Hill Road.

The exact cause is still under investigation...

But the Vestal Fire Department says lightning was the likely cause.

People were home at the time and called 911.

No injuries were reported.

"They made it out - they tried to fight the fire with the garden hose. And probably kept it in check to be honest until we got here," said Vestal Assistant Fire Chief Chuck Paffie.

Paffie says the flames were put out in about 20 minutes.

The Vestal Fire Department responded, along with the help of the Town of Binghamton and Endicott.
