Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A golf tournament was held in Owego to benefit the Children's Miracle Network.

The Vestal Wal-Mart sponsored the charity golf tournament Wednesday afternoon at Pheasant Hill Country Club

Eight teams of four entered the tournament, donating $200 each to play. Local businesses donated $100 to sponsor a hole.

There was food, raffles and trophies given out at the end of the day, but the most important goal, to raise funds for the kids, remained the focus.

"This is really important because without community groups, and events like this, the Children's Miracle Network couldn't perform miracles at the Janet Weis Children's Hospital throughout the year, for all the kids that come in," said Kaitlyn Mashack, Children's Miracle Network.

This was the 5th year the charity event took place, and an estimated $2,000 was raised.
