Tools

By Lindsey Nesselbush

That's the word Friday night from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

FEMA today approved disaster assistance for individual victims of last month's flooding.

People in Broome and Chenango counties are now eligible for the federal help.

After the flash floods in November, 8 upstate counties were declared disaster areas.

Until now, FEMA only approved money to help local governments repair the damage.

Now, individuals in Broome and Chenango, can apply for help, along with small businesses.

To apply, you can call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.

You can call between 8am and 6pm tomorrow and Sunday.

Then after Christmas, you can apply Tuesday December 26th, through Saturday the 30th.

You can also register online at fema.gov.
