Greene, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Turning 90 is an accomplishment for anybody.

But for the Raymond Corporation it's a celebration of their workforce and ingenuity.

"It's a great reflection on the level of commitment that our people have had over generations," said Steve VanNostrand, Vice President of Human Resources, "And it's a really exceptional opportunity to celebrate our people and our accomplishments but also look forward."

Credited for inventing the first pallet and fork lift. The company's been moving up for 90 years.

Saturday, the company makes more than 15,000 fork lifts each year that are shipped across the country and the rest of the world.

As one of Chenango County's top ten employers, Raymond has more than 1,200 people working at its Greene plant.

In just the last two years, it's added 600 more jobs.

"We made a strategic decision to in-source jobs right here in the United States, to New York, and particularly into Greene," VanNostrand said.

There are still at least 70 more positions available from manufacturing to administrative jobs in Greene.

"This story is not really towards the end," said VanNostrand. "I think this is a mid chapter, we feel great about our growth, and we continue to invest here in Greene so we're in the same position in the future as we are now."

Raymond, now part of Toyota, credits its community ties.

"We have a very strong workforce," said Michael Field, President of Operations and Engineering, "We're more of a family than anything else. We work together. We figure out the problems. And we get the job done when it's all said and done."

Accomplishing longevity, something unique in modern American manufacturing.

"When you think how many industries have migrated out of the United States," said Chuck Pascarelli, President of Sales and Marketing, "And Raymond, here in little Greene, New York, continues to thrive. It's extraordinary."
