(WBNG Binghamton) Red Cross has a new tool that can help smart-phone users prepare for natural disasters, which may come in handy now.

The Red Cross Hurricane app is available for iPhone and Android users.

It offers features including preparation tips, shelter information and weather updates and alerts.

The Red Cross says in the event that someone needs medical help, they also have an app for that.

Chapter executive of the American Red Cross, Shelley Bierwiler said, "You can also download a first aid app in case someone was hurt or needed help, it gives you the directions on what you need to do to give first aide."

Other features can help you prepare for storm related events like long term power outages and storm checklists.
