(WBNG BInghamton) If you have guns you're no longer using, you'll have a chance to turn them in for food. Deacon Ed Blaine and Helene Gilroy came by to talk an upcoming event.

The Mother's Day Week-End Grocery Certificates for Guns kicks off at 9 a.m. and runs 12 p.m. Saturday, May 10.

More information is listed below.

For the fifth year in a row, St. James Peace and Justice Committee are sponsoring a gun collection program on Mother's Day Weekend. This year they will offer $50 certificates for working handguns, rifles and shotguns and $100 certificates for assault rifles.

The event will be held on May 10th at St James Rectory parking lot, just two buildings west of St. James Church, Main St Johnson City, NY.

Grocery certificates will be exchanged between 9AM & 12 Noon. All guns will be destroyed by Broome County Sheriff's Office. Non-working guns and ammo will be taken without a gift certificate and also destroyed by the Sheriff's Office.
