Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The B-U men's soccer team almost saw its season end on Wednesday night. The Bearcats lost to Albany 2-1 at home. A loss that almost cost them an America East playoff spot.

It wasn't until Stony Brook lost to UMBC later in the night that BU found out it had clinched the sixth and final spot in the tourney. That moment gives the Bearcats a fresh start.

"We described it as a breath of fresh air, certainly something we look forward to," said coach Paul Marco. "We've been given an opportunity. You know a lot of people say we didn't earn it, but we did earn it, we just didn't earn it last night."

"Obviously you always want to keep your own fate in your own hands, but obviously with our performance last night we didn't get the result we wanted," said senior Robbie Hughes. "With the gift we've been given, we're obviously trying to use it to the best of our ability against Hartford."

Binghamton and Hartford square off on Saturday in Hartford with a spot in the America East semifinals on the line.
