Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park kicked off its138th season during its grand opening this weekend.

The zoo underwent a re-branding this winter and added new animals and exhibits.

Part of the changes include an Amur Leopard to its Great Cats of Asia, a new viewing window in the penguins section, a rainforest exhibit and a new concession stand.

Zoo director, Steven Contento, said people seem to be liking the new additions to the zoo.

"It's great to be open. Part of the idea was to rebuild the zoo's community image and with the hard work of everybody we've been able to do that," he said. "I think with a really big season that we feel lies ahead, Ross Park will be a part of the community and visited by more members of the community once again."

The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park looked to other zoos in New York State as inspiration for the rebuild.

Admission to the zoo is $7 for adults and $5 for children.
