Kirkwood, NY (WBNG Binghamton) When most people bowl, the goal is to get a strike.

But on Sunday night, the goal at Sunset Lanes was to raise money for the fight against cancer.

Eleanor Woodward Scott passed away a year ago and her family decided to create a Relay for Life team in her honor.

To raise money for "Ellie's Hope," the family decided bowling was a perfect way to bring people together.

They set up raffles and 50/50 tickets, all while trying to knock down pins.

"It's a good time," Rick Woodward, Ellie's nephew, said. "Most of the families that come down here have a blast, so it's a family event"

Several other events are planned for the future. The next one will be on April 1 at Chuck E. Cheese's.
