Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Broome County citizens are looking to bring a more creative way to feeding those in need.

Today at the weekly rotary lunch in Binghamton, Rotarians learned about "Canstruction". Canstruction is a creative way to get the community involved and provide a valuable service to those in need.

Teams will first need to raise money to buy canned food. Those teams will then build structures out of the canned food to be judged. Winners can then go on to the national competition.

"It's a great team building activity, so there is a lot of enthusiasm because teams take great pride in the structures that they come up with and what they are going to build," said Susan Christensen, Co-Chairwoman of Broome County Canstruction.

After the structures are judged and a winner is determined, all the canned food will be donated to CHOW.

Each structure is made up of an average of $1,800 worth of canned foods, so donations and team sponsors are encouraged.
