Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) For the BU men's and women's basketball teams the offseason workouts are set to begin. That means a new era starts for the women's basketball team.

Just a week ago Linda Cimino was named the next Bearcats women's basketball coach. Now, she's hard on the recruiting trail, looking to fill out the current roster.

On Friday, she spoke about recruiting while visiting WBNG. She spoke about what type of player she's looking for, and talked about the importance of possibly getting a local player into the mix.

"Definitely if there's talent in this area that is skilled enough and can compete at this level and have the academics to get into Binghamton, we're going to go after them and it's something to offer," said Cimino. "Playing in front of your home town they can be a hero around here and fill the event center. So I'm looking forward to communicating and talking with the local coaches and building a relationship and developing that."

She already has added one player into the mix. BU announced a commitment from New Jersey point guard Jasmine Sina on Friday.
