Whitney Point, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Whitney Point senior will continue her field hockey career next season at a Big 10 powerhouse.

Senior Jamie Dean signed her letter of intent to play at the University of Michigan next season.

Dean scored over 20 goals in her field hockey career at Whitney Point.

She says she's excited to be going to a school with a rich tradition, to play for a coach that's been named coach of the year twice.

"I'm sure its going to take a little time to get adjusted, especially being so far from home but when I visited, the team was amazing and they felt like a family so it feels really good to be playing with the team," says Dean.

Dean hasn't decided on a major yet, but is leaning toward Art History.

She comes from a long line of athletes.

Her sister played field hockey at Maryland and her brother played baseball at Broome Community College.
