Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Crews Wednesday demolished the first of dozens of homes to go down in the area of Endwell Street.

The area took on severe damage during the flooding of 2011.

“For this area in Westover, we’re looking at 36 properties that are going down, about nineteen of them right here on Endwell Street,” Town of Union Supervisor, Rose Sotak said.

Eleven residences in the area of 5th Street are expected to be rezoned and redeveloped.

"Put properties back on the tax rolls and be able to have an environment for people to come and enjoy or office space,” said Sotak.

Sotak said there are still 37 additional properties that the town is waiting to buyout.
