Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Sitting on a breezy patio overlooking a gorgeous golf course -- Vestal Hills Country Club perfectly incorporates dining with sport.
But don't worry if you're not a member -- the restaurant is open to the public.
"Last year we were open to the public, but it was kind of like the best kept secret," said Food and Beverage Manager Nicole Cerretani.
Well, the secret's out, and we got to experience firsthand all that Vestal Hills has to offer.
We started our meal out with potato and sesame encrusted southwest scallops and calamari with a cocktail- marinara sauce.
It was a seafood lover's dream.
The spiciness of the scallops was cooled down with an caprese salad, topped with fresh mozzarella and ruby red tomatoes.
For our final course, we were served a colorful plate of fresh cod over a mango salsa and filet mignon over a wild mushroom risotto.
Guests shouldn't be intimidated by the title "country club" -- Vestal Hills is welcoming to all.
"The food quality is top notch, and of course the camaraderie with a whole bunch of hackers out here is always a lot of fun," said Fred Russell, a nonmember who has been golfing at Vestal Hills for more than 40 years.
"We're pretty casual, shorts, t-shirt, flip flops, Friday nights you come dressed as you are," said Cerretani.
A diverse menu, an extensive wine list and beautiful surroundings? There's not much more you could want in an dining-out experience.
