Norwich, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Chenango County Sheriff's Office charged William Danielson, 48, with second degree murder after he allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend, Lucinda Knoll, who passed away on Sunday.

Deputies responded to the report of a woman who was assaulted and robbed in her driveway on Bourbon St. in the Maple Grove Trailer Park on Dec. 27 in the Town of Norwich.

The victim was Lucinda Knoll, 39.

The sheriff's office said her ex-boyfriend, Danielson of Oxford, parked at the Town of Norwich Highway Department and walked over to the trailer park. The office said he hid behind her mobile home while Knoll was buckling the couple's child into her car before attacking and robbing her.

Around 7:10 a.m., the sheriff's office received another 911 call reporting a car hit a utility poll in the Town of Preston. New York State Police responded and determined the truck belonged to the suspect.

Danielson was located at his home about one mile away from the crash. Authorities took him for questioning and he was arrested.

The sheriff's office says Knoll and Danielson shared one son and recently broke up. Knoll then moved to the Maple Grove Trailer Park with her three sons.

Knoll died on Sunday from blunt head trauma.

Danielson was originally charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree robbery. He now is charged with second-degree murder.

He was arraigned in Norwich Town Court and sent back to the Chenango County Jail without bail.

The case will be presented before a grand jury in January.

The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating and asking anyone who was in the area of Maple Grove Trailer Park on Dec. 27 and may have seen any suspicious activity to please call at (607) 337-1921 or (607) 337-1863.
