Town of Hancock, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An afternoon of dirk bike riding ends with a 10 year-old boy in the hospital and his father in custody.
New York State Police charged Raymond C. Bottass, 40, of West Hartford,Conn., with vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated.
Police said Bottass and his son Ryan were out riding dirt bikes in the Town of Hancock. Ryan drove ahead of his father and then turned back. But coming around a corner, the two hit head on.
Ryan was wearing a helmet, but his father wasn't.
The boy had to be flown to Westchester County Medical Center.
He is currently listed in stable condition.
Raymond was treated for minor injuries and released to police custody.
He was arraigned and taken to the Delaware County Jail, but is free on bail.
Police are continuing their investigation.
