Norwich, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Some call the Chenango County Fair one giant family reunion.

"It's a great pleasure," said Mary Weidman, one of the organizers for the fair. "I think all of us enjoy specific events but we just sit back once in a while and have a coke or have a soft drink, a hot dog or whatever and just watch the crowd."

This is the 166th year of the fair.

Dave and Virginia Law have been coming for almost a third of that time.

This year, they're serving as Mr. and Mrs. Chenango County Fair.

"Seeing everybody come back, it's like a big reunion together and having a great time together and enjoy the younger generation to come up and enjoy the fair and the thrills," Dave Law said.

One family enjoying those thrills was the Thorntons.

Tracey Thornton brought her daughter, Trinity, and niece, Jessica Morgan, to the fair this year.

Thornton said her favorite part is the fair's atmosphere and the harness racing.

Her husband competes in the harness racing and her daughter has competed in beauty pageants at the fair.

"I would really recommend this fair for everybody because it's the fair where everybody has fun," Morgan said.

Fair organizers said what separates this fair from the others in the area is it's history and dedicated staff.

The fair will be open throughout the weekend.
