Town of Union, NY (WBNG-Binghamton) A local skating group is on a mission to bring an ice rink to the Town of Union.

The event is part of the "Raise the Rink" block party and all proceeds go to the group called SCORE.

Its goal is to build a state of the art ice rink facility in the Town of Union.

On Saturday afternoon, Johnson City's, and the NHL's, Jerry D'Amigo was there raising support.

"This city has seen its up and downs and you want it to be thriving again, so with this, and keeping hockey going in this area, is great for the young kids and the up and coming kids to play hockey more," said D'Amigo.

The fundraiser is until 11 p.m. Saturday at Enjoie Golf Course in the Town of Union.

Tickets are $20 at the door. That includes food, live music, door prizes and activities for the kids.

D'Amigo was given his new Columbus Blue Jackets jersey before the golf tournament. He was just traded to Columbus from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
