Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A night of recognition at the Owego Fire Department as one of its hose companies celebrates its win of the Central New York Firematic Title.

It's the first time since 1994 Croton Hose Number Three, also known as the "Flat Rats", has brought the title back home to the village.

On Sunday the 119th annual CNYFA convention was held in New York Mills.

The races are timed events where firefighters must test their skills.

The trophies were delievered to Owego Wednesday and Fire Chief Ed Franz couldn't be more proud.

"It always makes you feel good. I was in that position many years ago when I was younger. And to see these younger guys take over, and do it while I'm in the position of Chief makes me feel real good," said Frantz

The Flat Rats out-competed other Fire Departments from 20 counties that were invited to the races.
