Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It's a celebration of renovating what more than 100 people call home in Vestal.

The Hearth at Castle Gardens is a senior living center located in Vestal.

It hosted an open house showcasing recent renovations to the building, in an attempt to make it feel more like home.

Staff at the living center say while residents were reluctant at first, they're happy with the final results of their home renovations.

"We expanded the building It's 11 feet out now. We added a carport so that's nice. The big deal here is we added automatic doors for them. Much easier to come in and out if you have a walker, a cane, or your holding things," said Theresa Cornellissen, Director of Community Outreach.

The Hearth at Castle Gardens has been in Vestal for more than 20 years, making it the old Hearth building in the area.
