Cortland, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Day one of New York Jets training camp produced rain, rain, rain. Rain is nothing new for the Jets in Cortland. After all, for the last few years, quarterback intrigue has poured out of this camp with the likes of Geno Smith, Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez.

Now, we add Michael Vick to that list. Most people expect a quarterback competition between Vick and Smith.

Here's what they had to say on day one.

"I expect to do well," Smith told reporters. "I expect to go to practice and earn my stripes. That's really all I can say about that. Coaches are going to make those decisions and, god willing, if I stay healthy, hopefully I can be the starter."

"Now you add in Mike Vick, who also knows the system, is a great athlete and I just think it's really a great situation," said head coach Rex Ryan. "I don't know if we've had a better quarterback situation since I've been the head coach."

"I think that's already been addressed as far as who the starter is. There's no more speculation about that it," said Vick. "It's all about just trying to get better from this point."

Vick sounded today like he expects to be the backup. We don't know for sure; we'll find out more Thursday when the team takes the field for the first time at 10 a.m.
