Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Binghamton man is on trial for second degree murder after the body of a Bronx man is found in a wooded area in the Town of Chenango in October 2011.

Jury selection is underway in Broome County Court in the murder trial of Joseph Ross Jones. Jones is charged with second degree murder for the death of Daniel Martinez.

In October 2011, Martinez was found stabbed and shot to death in a wooded area off Wilson Hill Road.

He was visiting the area from the Bronx.

Daniel Doherty of Binghamton is also charged with second degree murder in connection with the crime. The Broome County Sheriff's Office says Doherty acted as an accomplice.

Doherty is expected to testify in the case as part of a plea deal that could knock his charge down to manslaughter.
