Kirkwood, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The New York Department of Transportation is preparing to host the New York Office of General Services auction at the region 9 facility to take place Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 8 a.m.

For now though, the NYSDOT is asking the general public to stay out.

The facility is not open to the public and marked with "no trespassing" and "official business only" signs. The NYSDOT has reported a handful of incidents of people wandering onto the facility to get a sneak peak at the over 80 items on the auction block.

"The signs do apply, and they apply not only today but, tomorrow and every other day of the week and every other day of the year." said NYSDOT Public Information Officer, Dave Hamburg.

Hamburg stressed that this is an active facility, with heavy machinery coming and going. "If you are walking around not paying attention, or the vehicles are driving in not expecting you to bet there, it certainly does cause dangerous conditions," Hamburg said.

The exception to this will be Wednesday morning when the site opens to the public for the auction.

In the mean time, if you would like to see which items are up for action there is a list on the OGS's auction website.
