Town of Chenango, (WBNG Binghamton) Whether it's mint chocolate chip, a devilish dark chocolate or the classic vanilla, there seems to be an ice cream flavor for even the most exotic of taste buds.

For many, Sunday was a special day, "National Ice Cream Day."

Ice cream lovers around the Southern Tier talked about the treat of the day and their favorite flavors.

"I'm partial to the twist cones so today. I tried the black raspberry swirl with silver sprinkles," said Stephanie Steiner, a customer at local ice cream shop, Humdinger's.

Jenna Ivan, a Humdinger's employee added, "I like the "Oreo Joe" ice cream, which is coffee ice cream with Oreos in it."

National Ice Cream Day was started by former President Ronald Reagan back in 1984.

Reagan dubbed the the third Sunday in July National Ice Cream Day.

Workers at Humdinger's say they get the biggest crowd at night for the after work dessert crowd.
