Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Performance Energy Star Program holds an open house to educate people on the incentives offered to home and business owners.

People can get a free assessment on their home or business by a certified contractor.

All you need is a 24 month utility history and the square footage of your home. Then, that information will be submitted to The New York State Energy Research Authority (NYSERDA).

NYSERDA is offering incentives to homeowners that take advantage of the energy upgrades.

"Some of the homeowners we've worked with can see savings up to $900 a year. That homeowner saves $70 a month with a low payment of $40. He has a $30 savings after his loan payment," said Assistant Outreach Coordinator, Brad Pacalis.

An assessment on your home or business takes up to 4 hours.

If someone chooses to make the changes could also receive up to a $10,000 grant.
