Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton)

The Maine-Endwell girl's team will have had more than a week of practice by the time Saturday's state quarterfinal comes around.

After winning last Friday's Section 4 title, the Spartans now take on Section 9's Wallkill, who got by Peekskill earlier this week. With the layoff, coach Sonny Spera is hoping he has some real gym rats, that just don't want to see the season end.

" If they're truly invested, fully invested, like the chicken in the egg, like ham and eggs," said Spera. "The chicken is involved, but the pig is committed, so you're hoping that you have 12 "pigs" that want to stay and play all the way through. I think that's the important thing, and then the energy in practice I think will carry that."

The M-E girl's game is at Binghamton High School at 2 on Saturday, which was changed from the original 3 pm start time.
