Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Round three of funding from the Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council will include $760 million for local businesses, municipalities and non-profits.

But obtaining a piece of the regional pie can be confusing.

Clearing up questions was the purpose of a workshop Thursday for those entities to learn how to properly fill out a consolidated funding application.

The application allows businesses and organizations to sign up for funding from 10 different agencies through just one application.

"We want to make sure that they don't get frustrated. We want to make the process very easy for them. It is a consolidated funding application, so instead of having to apply to 10 different agencies, they can apply through this, and all 10 agencies will get the application," said Kevin McLaughlin with Empire State Development.

Funding is expected to be awarded in December, but it could take months after that for groups to receive the money.
