Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Officials shut down part of Route 17 after they said an Endicott man fled the scene of a two-car-wreck.

It happened around 4:10 a.m. Sunday near exit 69.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office said Cory Starring, 23, was driving on Route 17 westbound when he rear-ended a car.

He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

The sheriff's office said Starring was intoxicated and in possession of a small amount of MDMA, a controlled substance.

Starring has past DWI convictions within the past 10 years.

The sheriff's office said Starring claimed he was recently released from Tioga County Jail after serving time for DWI.

The driver of the other car in the accident was taken to Wilson Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Starring was charged with aggravated DWI, BAC over 0.18 percent, criminal possession of a controlled substance and leaving the scene of a person injury accident.
