Binghamton, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) Mayor Rich David introduced a new City Court Judge on Thursday.

Carol A. Cocchiola will take the place of the Honorable Mary Anne Lehmann, who retired at the beginning of April.

Cocchiola is a republican and a graduate of Syracuse Law School, with experience in both criminal and civil court cases.

She has spent more than a decade in the Broome County District Attorney's Office and 15 years with the New York State Attorney General's Office.

"I'm in a courtroom all the time and I'm very comfortable there and I'm looking forward to the experience of being on the bench and listening to the parties in the courtroom," said Cocchiola.

Cocchiola informed the community that she is excited to work as a team with the two other judges.

She will be sworn in May 1 for the unexpired term and will then run in the November election.
