(WBNG BINGHAMTON) In 2008, Port Dickinson police officer Aldo Rossi, Jr.was killed by a drunk driver. On December 27th, the Stop DWI Holiday Classic will honor the fallen officer with the Aldo Rossi Jr. Police memorial basketball game.

It's a new wrinkle to the tournament and it kicks off the festivities on Friday at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena at 5:30.

The game will be played by local police officers.

It's a game that should set the tone for the weekend, according to the Broome County Stop DWI coordinator Chris Marion.

"Adding in the message of the Aldo Rossi Jr memorial game...
Officer Rossi was killed by a drunk driver in 2008," he said. "As part of our effort to educate not only student athletes but the general public, we thought this would be a great way to honor Officer Rossi and raise awareness about the topic -- especially in December, which is the deadliest month for DWI-related crashes."

The 3 point contest and dunk contest will follow that game. Those also will be at the Arena.
