" Always good in math, so I think it's the easiest. Math is just my easy subject and I feel like, I just love math. I'm even taking a 4th level of math when I don't really need to."

It usually takes a bit of math to calculate the stats that Phoebe Byrnes puts together in a given game.
This is her 4th year on the varsity roster.

In the past she was a role player, spotting up for 3's as Jen Morabito guided the offense.
But now as a senior, more is expected from Byrnes, and so far this season she has delivered.

" The leadership has come, especially this season now that Jen is gone, and it just naturally came to me. Just knowing that , and the maturity of my game, it's been a real easy transition. "

She takes her work off the court just as seriously.

Whether it's an extra math class just for fun, or honors english, Byrnes finds a way to get her work done while balancing her athletics schedule.

" I have some study halls, and I try to get work done as best I can. That leaves me some relax time and down time before practice and games. If there is any tight time it's always work, practice, then back to work. It all works out."

Her team is perfect on the season, and Byrnes is a big reason why.
After this year she wants to play college basketball and study accounting.

We know she has a pretty good shot to do whatever she sets her mind to. It's why Phoebe Byrnes is this week's Mirabito academic all star.
