Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Move-In Day at Binghamton University was complicated by dodging raindrops, but was not completely dampened.

College life is off to a good start in this dorm room at Newing College Community at BU.

"Everything is brand new so it's really nice," said Megan Tedford of Plattsburgh.

The haul just to get here is only eclipsed by the haul to get all your stuff to your room.

A few freshman need some help along the way before homework becomes the top priority.

"Some kids are going away for the first time so we help to ease that transition," said BU sophomore Jocelyn Resnick.
efore homework becomes the top priority.

Patrick Regan from Massapequa, Long Island is "pretty interesting variety of classes. I'm taking philosophy of religion course, global media narratives course, and a calculus course."

For many the hardest part of this whole process is saying goodbye, and saying hello to a new chapter in life.

"I'm happy for her, said Gary Kenyon of Rocky Point, Long Island. "I'll miss her. But, I know it's something that she's looking forward to."

"I have to go away," said Gary's daughter Jessica. "I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I'm really looking forward to it."

"This is my third that I'm sending off to college," said Dina Tedford of Plattsburgh. "I'm ready because she's ready."

Binghamton University is ready for 2,450 freshman.

Traffic on the roadways leading up to BU wasn't too bad. Drivers may now access the Vestal Parkway directly from Route 201.

The DOT advised drivers to avoid the area Friday and for the most part, it looks like they did.

On campus, a color-coded system matching dorm halls helped traffic flow.

"We have a good procedure where we will drop off student's stuff, then they park in a different lot, and they take a shuttle bus," said BU junior Amanda Kohn.

Back-ups were typical through the construction phase heading back to about Riverside Drive on 201.
