Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Thursday marked the final day for a Planned Parenthood office to operate in Binghamton.

A new Family Planning of South Central New York will take its place.

In November, the decision was made that the facility -- and its branches in Norwich, Oneonta, Sidney and Walton -- would remove their affiliation with the national organization.

Officials said this will allow them to focus more on the local needs of the community without compromising any of the services they provide.

"Really nothing but the name has changed. We like to say new name same great services. We are still in Binghamton, Oneonta, Norwich, Sidney and Walton. We have the same staff, we have the same mission, and we are still committed to serving our community," said Family Planning SCNY CEO Debra Marcus.
