Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Newly released video from the West Corner's fire department shows the intensity of the massive fire at Wagner's Lumber in Owego.

The video is from a mounted camera on a West Corners firefighter's helmet.

The fire destroyed the sawmill inside the 53,395 square foot facility.

The sawmill is the main facet of the lumberyard's work.

Vice President Steve Schaeffer said Wagner can still dry wood for sale at its Owego yard lumber yard.

Schaeffer said the new sawmill will be more prepared for fire.

"Certainly, there will be incorporated into that rebuild new, modern, fire suppression equipment," Schaeffer said.

The sawmill portion of the company employed about 35 workers that will be transferred to other sawmills while the Owego yard rebuilds.

Schaeffer estimates at least six to nine months before Wagner opens a new sawmill.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Schaeffer said he thinks equipment in the sawmill could have been the problem.
