One dead, four seriously injured in Pa. crash

Palmyra, PA (WBNG Binghamton) A man was killed and four others were seriously injured in a car crash just before 5 p.m. Saturday in Wayne County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Manuel A. Mirailh, 57, of Lake Ariel, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Michael J. Smith, 54, and Susan A. Smith, 49, both of Milford, and Antonio A. Silva, 46, and Kimberly Silva, 46, both of Cliffwood Beach, were seriously injured in the crash.

Police said Mirailh was driving west on the Owego Turnpike in an Oldsmobile Intrigue when he lost control and crossed into the opposite lane.

His car hit head-on with a Mazda CX-5. Michael Smith, Susan Smith, Antonio Silva and Kimberly Silva were all inside the Mazda.

Police said everyone in the Mazda was trapped in the car and had to be extricated by emergency crews.

Three were taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center by helicopter. One was taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center by ambulance.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police at (570) 253-7126.

White Mills Fire Department, Hawley Fire Department, Wayne Ambulance, Pike County ALS and Hawley Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
