Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It's been one year since the Binghamton community lost two residents in a double-murder.

The bodies of 35-year-old Christina Powell and 24-year-old Mario Masciarelli were found on March 22, 2013.

Saturday, family and community members put aside the upcoming trial of Aaron Powell, 40, of Binghamton, who is accused in their deaths.

A big crowd gathered at Rec Park to pray for them and to celebrate their lives.

Everyone held a candle against the setting sun and a musician performed for the vigil.

Aaron Powell's murder trial is scheduled to start on May 19 in Broome County Court.
